Nayachar Eco Village Itinerary –
Day 1
Arrive at Dainhat Railway Station and transfer to the eco-resort. After lunch, begin your first boat safari focused on photographing Gangetic Dolphins. Return for snacks, followed by a night trail to spot jungle cats, jackals, and owls. End the day with a brief session on the biodiversity of Gangetic West Bengal, then dinner.
Day 2
Start early with morning tea and a full-day boat safari guided by a wildlife specialist. Enjoy breakfast and lunch at the resort, then head out again for an afternoon boat safari. In the evening, review and discuss the photographs captured during the day.
Day 3
After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Dainhat Railway Station with wonderful memories and wildlife photographs.

Kalyanpur Ghat
A unique bend in the Ganges near Nayachar, Katwa creates a safe haven for the endangered Gangetic River Dolphins (Shushuk). With minimal fishing and no major pollution sources, this is one of the best places in India to spot dolphins—featured by the BBC Natural History Unit. Visitors can watch them from country boats or rafts.
Nayachar River Island
This small, uninhabited island near Nayachar (not the one in Haldia) is a winter paradise for birdwatchers, home to diverse local and migratory birds. Guided trips can be arranged for an immersive birding experience.
Katwa
Located at the confluence of the Ajay and Ganges, Katwa is a notable historical and Vaishnav pilgrimage site. It houses the Sri Gouranga Temple, Madhaitala Ashram, and nearby centers like Agradwip and Sreekhanda. The town also features Shah Alam’s Darga and links to the legend of King Vikramaditya.
Snake Village – Musharu
Just 25 km from Nayachar, Musharu is known as the “Snake Village,” where humans and cobras coexist peacefully—a rare phenomenon highlighted in the BBC’s Ganges series. It attracts curious travelers from across the world.
Attahas Sati Peeth
A revered pilgrimage site and one of the Satipithas, Attahas is also a thriving habitat where thousands of Asian open-billed storks nest annually. Its ancient trees support fruit bats, butterflies, and numerous bird species, making it spiritually and ecologically significant.
Gharial in Ganga, Katwa
The Gharial, once thought extinct in this region for 60 years, has made a comeback. Around 250 individuals now inhabit a 500 km stretch of the Hooghly from Farakka to Tribeni, with breeding populations recently observed.
