Kolkata Visa & Entry Requirements for International Tourists

India e-Tourist Visa
Citizens of more than 150 countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and UAE, are eligible for India’s e-Visa. https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/
Requirements:
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Passport bio-page scan
- Return or onward flight ticket
- Hotel booking or accommodation details
Apply through the official Government of India e-Visa portal before travel. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but applying 1–2 weeks in advance is recommended.
Arrival at Kolkata Airport
Most international visitors arrive at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU).
After landing:

- Taxi or pre-booked airport transfer

Visa-Free Entry

Student Visa for India
International students admitted to an Indian university must obtain a Student Visa before travelling. Required documents generally include:
- Admission letter
- Valid passport
- Passport photographs
- Proof of address
- Completed visa application
Students staying more than 180 days must register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) after arrival.
Customs & Health
Visitors should comply with Indian customs regulations regarding alcohol, tobacco, currency, and restricted items. Travellers arriving from yellow fever–affected countries must carry a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.
